Starting with the selection of locations for 10 innovation cities in December 2005, the government took the first step
toward the construction of innovation cities that will usher in the harmonious growth and balanced development of the provinces.
Construction of 10 innovation cities was completed in 2018,
and relocation of 153 public agencies was completed in 2019.

In 2018, the Public Agency Relocation Group was reorganized and renamed Innovation City Development Group,
and plans for fostering business in industry clusters as well as ??Innovation City Season 2 Development Plan?? were drawn up.
The ??Innovation City Occupant Companies and Startup Promotion Plan?? and ??Innovation City Comprehensive Development Plan?? are being developed with the goal of completing by 2022.
In innovation cities, populations are increasing and positive impact on the local economies is emerging such as increasing local tax revenues.
The cities are gradually taking on the appearance of a proper city as evidenced by the increasing number of occupant companies.

into new regional growth hubs for balanced national development.

First, the government will focus its efforts on making innovation cities more comfortable places to live.
It will work on improving transportation convenience and expanding accessibility to culture, leisure, educational, and healthcare services.

In addition, through the improved recruitment system for regional talents and strengthening of the talent training program,
the government shall actively develop regional human talents. Through the establishment of Innovation City development foundation and
obligation to build a development fund, the government shall step up its drive to produce tangible results by Innovation City projects.
